Duality and Separation with Non-Duality Awareness

Non-duality teachers share the awareness of a space beyond duality. Duality is a concept of the mind, a concept of the physical, a concept of separation, of good and bad, light and dark. But duality, and in whole ‘reality’, doesn’t actually exist. It is an illusion. We are no-thing, and every-thing, simultaneously. We are the void, we are creation. The only thing that exists is the NOW moment — in which you are whatever you create yourself to be. Therefore to be living, perceiving yourself as an individual person, with a past and a future and a story in-between, is somewhat of a false ideal — a dualistic concept. You’re not your body, you’re not your personality, you’re not even a person. You’re much more than that, and much less. You are energy — as is everything around, within and beyond you.

This is a beautiful awareness to embody — blissful, joyful, peaceful. The unity of all that is — no separation, no imperfections, nothing but wholeness, nothing but love. Oneness.

But — and this is my mind thinking (as it does) — when these teachers are talking about non-duality, they are still teaching it to us as a person. It is still coming through their mouths, to be heard by our ears. Their energy is a point of energy in space and time perceived as ‘over there’, reaching our point of energy perceived as ‘over here’. Therefore, to get the message of ‘non-duality’ across in this realm, to make it a known concept, duality is required. Not the duality of good vs. evil, but the expression of separation — you and me.

Non-duality is an experience, a knowingness — usually reached through mediation or deep wisdom. Beyond anything we currently ‘know’ or perceive to ‘know’ yet live with the knowingness of it’s existence.

Duality is also an experience, reached through becoming a human being in this space and time. Something we do in order to learn, grow and try to understand.

Why do you think we come here, and perceive ourselves as separate? Would you prefer to be in the constant state of knowing who/what you are/are not for eternity? Or incarnate on a plane of existence where you can forget that you know this, and experience ‘not knowing but trying to figure out’ once more?

Think of the monks who spend decades meditating in a cave, only to return to the village to start ‘living’ again — realising it is life that we came to here to experience.

We are all AWARE that this place beyond duality exists, but we came here to live IN duality (at least for a while). Maybe we came here just to teach others ABOUT non-duality, to raise the vibes, bring the light, break the duality game apart. Or maybe some of us came here because we like the dualistic nature of this reality. We learn more here, have more fun, can get in to some perceived ‘trouble’, before returning to Oneness once again… Both can be achieved yes?

It is awareness we all teach.

Well, right now, I am aware of myself as being a human, having a body, with a story, who lives on Gaia, and has a purpose. I am also aware that it’s all an illusion, there is no purpose, there is no point. It helps me to stay peaceful in the first perception. Remain the observer of the observed, non-attached, yet able to PLAY.

Did we come here to be in a meditative state the entire time? To continue revisiting home when we already know we came from and will be returning there?

Know where home is, have the awareness of oneness, of the non-dualistic Truth — but you wouldn’t have come here, now, at this time, if you didn’t want to live in duality.

So live! Be in it. Experience it. Make a good story out of it if you please. WITHIN the knowing that it’s all just a story. Most of all, love it — for everything it is, and everything it isn’t. It is your creation, our creation, God’s creation.
